「いいです！」の意味 「ii desu」means・・・?
「いいです！よくできました！」
先生方の元気な声が、クラスのあちこちから聞こえてきます。
初級の学生たちは、「いいです＝Good」と思ってしまう事でしょう。
でも、本当にそうでしょうか。
学生の一人、キャロルさんが日本の美容院へ行った時の事です。
美容師さんが彼女に言いました。
「マッサージをいたしましょうか。」
キャロルさんは、それはGood ideaだと思い、「いいです！」と答えました。
でも結局、美容師さんは最後までマッサージをしてくれず、
キャロルさんはとても不思議に思ったそうです。
「いいです」という意味には、「Good」だけでなく、「（I am）OK」という意味もあります。
だからその美容師さんはマッサージをしてくれなかったのですね。
実はこういった誤解は、日本人同士でも起こります。先日私の友人が遊びに来てくれた時、私が「美味しいチョコレートがあるけど・・・（食べる？）」と言うと、彼女は「いい!」と答えました。はて、それはどっちの意味なのでしょうか・・・。結局再度、聞きなおす事となりました。
では、もしあなたが誰かに何かをオファーされて、それを受けたければ、
何と答えればいいのでしょうか。
その時は「はい、お願いします」と言えば、誤解が生じないでしょう。
どうしてもGoodという意味で使いたい方は、
「いいですね。」と「ね」を添えると賛成の意味としてクリアになります。
日本語って、いいですね。
「ii desu! (Good!)」
Teachers respond when a student does well in Japanese lessons.
Therefore, most students think 「ii desu = Good」.
・・・Is that really so?
Here is the story;
When Carole was in a hair dressing salon in Japan,
She was asked, “Would you like a massage?”
She said “ii desu! “ as she thought it was a good idea.
After that, Carole started feeling very confused because the hair dresser did not give her a massage…
「ii desu」does not only mean “Good”, but also “ (I am) OK”.
That is why the hair dresser did not give her a massage.
Actually, this misunderstanding happens between Japanese native speakers. When my friend visited me the other day, I said to her “I have got a nice chocolate… (So would you like some?)”, she replied “ii!”. … Well, I had to ask her again which she meant, good or no thanks…
So, what do you say when you are offered something and wish to receive it?
…It is better to say `Hai, onegai shimasu (Yes please)`.
If you really want to say “(sounds) good”,
It is clear if you add “ne” after “iidesu”, that is “ii desu ne”.
